Oof. Tough one. Going T2 Judgement recolor?

I'm hoping that they'll drop before the fashion show April 14, 2012, but I want to have a standby piece just in case I don't get lucky enough. I'm a huge fan of the recolour, not necessarily a fan of the original. I like to break people's brains. :-D

You can try reaching out to the Storm Wolves (my Guild) and I've been talking it up ever since I found out y'all were coming. Kuiril (Mug'Thol) was the first toon of mine you met and I was hoping WoWFactor would come to Mug'Thol, but c'est la vie.

The Acherus Knight's Greaves were just a place holder, but the Bladefist Broadaxe isn't too bad for now. I've also been grinding out Shattrath Halls for the mount because it would match the outfit rather well. :-D

I dunno, to me, the weapon should be an understated accoutrement, not a splashy "LOOKATMELOOKATMELOOKATME" thing...I don't need to compensate...lol

Well, it is a two handed axe. By its model's baseline definition it's going to stand out, visually more than say a sword would. The ones I linked just happened to have a bit of purple to their look.

Look at it this way, when I'm evaluating looks in these threads, I'm doing so as if it were something I'd see at a competition - which isn't entirely fair to be honest. Most of these looks are great that arrive in here. But I also don't want to promote a bunch of stuff here and then land in the competition and not give players a heads up as to things I could have pointed out earlier here in the forums.

So with that said here's my take and why going with a bit more flair with the 2H axe is actually a smart thing to do.

Pally T2 recolor has been done a number of times. It's a very pervasive look, many have seen it before. So it's already got a bit of a trophy appeal to it, which is largely why so many players elect to go with it. And it's because of that I personally feel the weapon and shield that accompany it really have to be carefully selected. The purple really pigeonholes the look into a corner where really only grays, whites, purples and perhaps some cool blues will click. And if you go elect to go "non-trophy" weapon, I think it actually diminishes the visual appeal of the T2 recolor. I only say this because I've seen some amazing weapons paired with T2 recolor and the weapon can really make the armor shine. We saw this on Lightbringer with Quel'Delar, Might of the Faithful that was used by a Death Knight:



Not a great match, but it worked because the DK's eyes were a cool blue and their hair was white. But this is kindof my point, I think T2 recolor is so widely known that simply wearing it with a quiet, subdued weapon isn't enough anymore. The armor requires more WoW and I think it needs to come from the weapon, the cape, the companion, or perhaps slice up its components and opt for a mix n' match and create something we've not yet seen.

All that said I think what you've done is very solid. I'm just commenting on what I would expect to see at, say the SC show if you were legitimately trying to compete. But that's me. We have two other judges that exist to counter-balance my view, and they might entirely disagree with my philosophy.

But as far as my philosophy goes on Pally T2 recolor - there it is.

Then again I just looked back at the axe you currently have equipped and it's really not bad. Bladefist Broadaxe definitely has the right coloring to compliment the armor. Dunno, perhaps it's just the little things then that are needed to put it over the top. Cape, etc.

I definitely appreciate the input, believe you me, and there's one special piece I'm trying to wrassle up in time, but it's never had the best drop rate for me. If I get lucky and it DOES drop for me, It will blow your frakking mind. I mean seriously. If it doesn't, I think I have an adequate backup.

I did take your suggestions to heart re: weapon, and I'm thinking, for competition purposes, I can find a better enchant that goes with the axe and the look better, but it'll take some jiggery-pokery at the Runeforges until I find it.

The intention is, obviously, not to skimp on the details and I realise that accessorizing, while distasteful (OK, maybe that's too strong a word) and unnecessary (to me) can make the difference between pushing a look over the top and just leaving it "Meh."

I've been pushing the show through my Guild and through other avenues as well to try to increase awareness on Scarlet Crusade (200K gold prize package makes me drool) and hopefully we can get a few folks showing up for it.
